HELEN GERARDIA
Elevated Station.

Color lithograph, circa 1945-50. 403x305 mm; 16x12 inches, full margins. Signed, titled and numbered 3/12 in pencil, lower margin. A very good impression of this scarce lithograph with strong colors.

Gerardia (1903-1988) was born in Ekaterinoslav (now Dnipro, Ukraine); she immigrated to the United States and studied in New York under Hans Hofmann from 1946 to 1947. She was influenced both by Abstract Expressionism and Cubism. Gerardia was a member of the Vectors artist group and, from 1967 to 1969, she was president of the American Society of Contemporary Artists.
