inscribed by heller to collector Frank Adamucci describing his surprise at seeing this typescript -- "I don't know how you got hold of this script!" Heller also gives a wholehearted endorsement to the completed film: "Saw the movie about ten days ago. It's one of the best ever & I'm pretty sure you'll agree. You'll also note considerable departures from the script." A 250 page version, identified as a Second Draft and dated June 19, 1968 appeared at auction eight years ago (Swann Galleries, May 22, 2003, lot 404), suggesting that Henry was obliged to make extensive last minute cuts before filming could begin. with--First Modern Library Edition. 8vo, cloth; dust jacket, price-clipped and creased.
