HENRI DE TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) YVETTE GUILBERT. 1894. 8 3/4x7 7/8 inches, 22x20 cm. Condition A. Paper. A flyer promoting the sale of the album Yvette Guilbert, which contained 16 illustrations of the performer combined with text. Only 100 copies of the album were printed. The flyer bears the same image as the cover of the album itself, but also has additional text around the outside, such as price, printer, information on signed copies, and a notification that the price of the remaining albums would double after November 1, 1894. The image depicts "Yvette's discarded gloves [that] seem to be gliding down step by step, a ghostly, alien trickle of black ready to enter into a liaison with the grotesque eccentricity of their wearer which was to last for over 30 years" (Adriani p. 118).
