Guydo was an illustrator who worked for the most prominent French humor magazines, such as L'Assiette au Beurre and Le Rire. Although four of his posters were presented in the Rheims exhibition in 1896, this poster was not one of them. It is an unrecorded and beautiful image, built, Grasset-style, around a medieval theme--even the text at the bottom is in old French. However, unlike Grasset, Guydo employs very little decorative ornamentation; his illustrations are straightforward and not weighed down with intricate details. The poster is a love story about to happen, between the subjects of the poster, and the consumer and the product as well.
