Artist's proof, aside from the edition of 25 and before the reduction and beveling of the plate, before steel-facing and before the removal of the guidemarks at the corners of the composition and the test line along the plate mark lower left (Duthuit notes 2 trial proofs and 5 artist's proofs). Signed and inscribed "Essai" in pencil, lower right. A brilliant, early impression of this very scarce print, with crisp, partially inky plate edges and with burr on the test line along the plate mark lower left, on the guidemarks and on the lower portion of the left contour line of the neck.
