Le Café Concert was commissioned by André Marty for the publication L'Estampe Originale. Lautrec (1864-1901) had to share the commission with the then more popular caricaturist Henri Gabriel Ibels (1867-1936). The complete series of 22 lithographs depicts scenes from the Paris cafés concert that were extremely popular during the Belle Époque.
