HERBERT ALKER TRIPP (1883-1954) HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT. 1936. 35 1/4x22 1/4 inches, 89 1/2x56 1/2 cm. Condition B: extensive overpainting, repaired tears, replaced losses and creases in margins and image. Tripp was more than just an artist who designed posters for London Transport and several of the British Railway Companies. He was also a policeman, a London city planner, a member of the Ministry of Transport Committee on Road Safety and a keen yachtsman. "Between 1933 and 1936 Herbert Alker Tripp produced six paintings for London Transport Posters, which became bestsellers" (Art for All p. 227).
