From an edition of 40. : Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Volz came to San Francisco, California in 1933 and was active on the WPA Print Project in San Francisco and later Los Angeles in the 1940s. This scene is most likely a San Francisco scene created in the year 1938. Volz has artworks in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Crystal Bridges Art Museum, The San Francisco Museum of Art, among others. He had a one man exhibition at the Crocker Art Museum in 1942.
