HERMANN KOSEL (1896-1983) INTERNATIONALE AUTOMOBIL UND MOTORRAD AUSSTELLUNG. 1932.
48 1/2x37 inches, 123x94 cm. Paul Gerin Wein, II.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases in margins and image: vertical and horizontal folds.
Kosel studied graphic design with Julius Klinger at the master artist's private advertising school. He went on to work in conjunction with several other prominent designers, including Max Frey and Erwin Gibson, and then, from 1929, he worked on his own. Each year, from 1929 to 1932, Kosel designed the poster for the International Car and Motorcycle Exhibition. These posters display the "wide breadth of his artistic capabilities. The styles changed playfully between Art Deco, New Objectivity and Constructvisim, perfectly corresponding to and capturing prevailing artistic themes." (Denscher p. 159). Denscher p. 162.
