HERMANN'S & FROITZHEIM. 1910.
28x37 3/4 inches. Hollerbaum & Schmidt, Berlin.
Condition B+: overpainting in margins; creases in image.
One of the most famous commercial posters Klinger designed: another bird (this time a toucan) with ties in his oversized beak against a white background. Klinger's work here is pure and brilliantly graphic, quite the opposite from the work of Cappiello (who also loved to use animals in his posters) who used pastels the way a painter would. A classic masterpiece.
