Postmarked Denver, 11 March 1904.

Additional Details

A curious piece with all types of associations. Henry Darvin or Darwin is the Americanized name of Chevalier Heinrich Thorn, brother of Chevalier Ernest Thorn, and once a partner in the act Thorn and Darvin (or Darwin). After an American tour, Heinrich remained in the United States while his brother returned to Europe. Given the evidence of this card, Heinrich went to work for Leon Herrmann. The postcard eventually migrated to Ernest Thorn's large collection of magical memorabilia, and bears his ownership stamp. As the card is postmarked 1904, it must be associated with Leon Herrmann, since Alexander died in 1896.
