Etching and engraving. 400x538 mm; 15 3/4x21 1/2 inches. Second state (of 2). Large crowned shield with a star and lily watermark. Trimmed on or just inside the plate mark. A superb, richly-inked impression of this extremely scarce, large print, with strong contrasts and little to no sign of wear.
Hollstein lists only 3 other impressions at auction, all in the 1930s, and we have found only one other impression at auction since; it sold at Sotheby's, London, December 6, 1990, lot 4 in similar condition, also trimmed to the plate mark. Hollstein 43; Riggs 11.
