This print was formerly in the collection of Vernon Porter, director of the Riverside Museum, New York. It was apparently on display at the museum where the first Hine retrospective, "Documentary Photographs, 1905-1938," was co-organized by Berenice Abbott and Elizabeth McCausland in 1939. Accompanying the lot is a facsimile copy of the exhibition catalogue, which includes a checklist of prints in the show.<
