Located in the center of Kanagawa prefecture on Japan's eastern coast, Chigasaki is a popular beach resort that is considered the birthplace of Japanese surfing. Pictured in the background is Eboshi-iwa, a rock formation in the shape of traditional Japanese hat worn by members of the upper classes in ancient times. The rocks are a symbol of Chigasaki. But situated a kilometer and half off shore it is unlikely there was ever a camping village on them as illustrated here.
