Greek text. 277, [1]; [57] leaves, including blank 2M6. 2 parts in one volume. 8vo, 163x100 mm, contemporary Italian brown goatskin over pasteboard with scrollwork roll border in blind around center panel containing gilt Fortuna stamp within hexagonal double-fillet cartouche, front cover additionally stamped with author and title at top, ties lacking, rebacked in the 19th-century; light marginal dampstaining on opening leaves, minor spotting on title. Early inscription in Greek on front free endpaper of Jacobus [second name illegible] and his companions. [Venice: Aldus Manutius, not before 31 October 1504]

Additional Details

first aldine edition, the first of 2 volumes forming the second edition of the works of Homer after the 1488 first edition in the original Greek.
