Additional Details

The Magic Kettle was a curious act in which a large kettle would boil and steam when placed on ice. However, when anything was placed inside the kettle it would be frozen. The secret to the kettle was not terribly involved. What interested Houdini most about the kettle act was the fashion in which it was advertised, as is evidenced by his manuscript note on the card. This card is reproduced and discussed in Magic Magazine, June 2001, page 122.<
