Additional Details

first edition in the extremely scarce dust jacket and perhaps one of the finest copies in jacket to ever come to auction. Household's gripping tale about an Englishman who stalks an evil dictator but is caught before he can assassinate him, then flees to England to hide underground.
The 2000 IMBA publication "100 Favorite Mysteries of the Century" called it: "The best manhunt book in history, expertly paced, tightly plotted and far surpassing John Buchan's more famous 'The Thirty-nine Steps'." Published as "Man Hunt" in 1942, and the basis for the 1941 film of the same title directed by Fritz Lang. Hubin IV, 763.
