Van der Woude was an accomplished Jugendstil artist who worked in many fields of the decorative arts, including graphics, book and textile design and stained glass. This show of artist-designed furniture and decoration was held in Krefeld only one year after the museum opened. In France, these arts decoratifs were separate from the beaux arts (painting and sculpture) and would not have been given their own exhibition. The image is an excellent German counterpoint to French posters advertising La Maison Moderne. DFP-III 3480, Wember 799.
