Additional Details

"As a professional 'intellectual,' I was painfully impressed by the account in Bulletin No. 18 of the Committee on Science and Freedom (Manchester, England), of the Castro regime's assault on academic liberty and its avowed determination to transform the University of Havana into an instrument of the state and a propaganda machine for Che Guevara's brand of revolutionary ideology. Dogma, whether religious, political, economic or nationalistic, is the prime enemy of reconciliation--of human decency and loving-kindness. It is very distressing to see the deliberate transformation of an institution of higher learning . . . into a machine for inculcating dogmas and training fanatics who shall be immune to reason and charity."
