"Like his father, Hakon Spliid was originally trained as a baker and confectioner, but he soon followed an urge to draw. He graduated from the School of Technology in Copenhagen, and took the national training as a drawing instructor. In the field of posters he is best known for his striking tourist posters from the early 1920s and onwards. These posters show recognisable motifs from Danish towns, monumentally portraying important features, such as the churches in the towns" (www.danskplakatmuseum.dk).
