Lee Hall was an American painter, writer, educator, and the 13th President of the Rhode Island School of Design from 1975-1983. She had a close relationship with painters Elaine and Wilhem de Kooning and later wrote a biography of the couple, Elaine and Bill: Portrait of a Marriage.
