Heller, Joseph (1923-1999)
Catch-22, the author's personal copy.

New York: Simon and Schuster, 1961.

First edition, octavo; with a touching inscription by Heller to New York restauranteur and artist Sheldon Fireman: "This is the only copy of a first edition I possess. Had I known 38 years ago that someone might want it today, I would have taken better care to preserve the book jacket," dated the year of his death in East Hampton, NY, in blue ink on the front flyleaf; bound in blue publisher's cloth, lettered with white, red topstain (lacking the original jacket as per the inscription; faint sunning to spine and front board, minor losses to lettering); 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.

From the Library of Sheldon "Shelly" Fireman.
