Henry VIII's 1521 Defence of the Seven Sacraments was aimed at Martin Luther, in defense of the Catholic church, and won him the honorable title, Defender of the Faither from Pope Leo X. Considering the dramatic political and theological turn of events in store for Britain, Luther and the tenets of the Reformation seem a strange target.
