Heyeck's love for printing and paper marbling is on full display in this memoir. It also provides stunning samples of her marbling work and includes useful information. She gives examples of common mistakes that beginners may encounter when first learning the art. Her educational point of view in the book aligns with her lifelong career as a college instructor at the College of San Mateo, where she founded the first "Women in Literature" course and helped women achieve their educational goals through her work at the CSM Re-Entry Center. Many of Heyeck's projects address and depict feminist ideas in collaboration with other women writers, notably, her design and publication of Adrienne Rich's Sources in 1983.
