First edition, folio, three parts in one volume; all three title pages printed within the same elaborate woodcut compartment, woodcut coat of arms on verso of title page; illustrated throughout with text woodcuts; manuscript signature of Arthur Salwey to dedication leaf dated 27 February 1577 with a few other marginal notes bearing his initials in the text, some notes on verso of final leaf mentioning Salway, Scotland; "Richard Grafton" printed in black letter on a small slip of paper pasted in place under the letter R; second & third title pages with dated signature of Johannes Harding dated 1678 & 1682; in a modern binding incorporating blind-tooled 16th century leather panels inset; rebacked; 11 1/4 x 8 in.

[Together with] a fragment of the continuation of the second volume, beginning with the section on Henry V in the year 1413 at page 1165, and ending at the present day (1576) with Queen Elizabeth on page 1876, followed by a portion of the table (lacking all after L4); bound in18th century boards bearing the royal arms of George III in gilt, rebacked, later endleaves, woodcuts in text, printed in two columns in black letter throughout; an important Shakespeare source; defects to text leaves; boards may be a reimboitage; several text leaves with small stamp of Brierley Hill Libraries; last surviving leaf of index defective with large section of loss; 10 7/8 x 7 1/2 in.
