Pen and brown ink with black chalk and white gouache heightening on cream laid paper mounted on card stock. 210x300mm; 8 1/4x11 1/2 inches.

This work may relate to Il Pordenone's (Giovanni Antonio de' Sacchis, 1484-1539), An Allegory of Time, pen and ink and wash and black chalk heightened with white gouache, early 1530s, which sold at Christie's, London, July 3, 1984, lot 36. This composition was also used for a chiaroscuro woodcut by Giuseppe Nicolò Vicentino (active first half 16th century).
