THE ARTIST'S FIRST PRINT JACK LEVINE
Matisse and the U.S. Serviceman.

Lithograph, 1942. 260215 mm; 101/4x81/2 inches, wide (full?) margins. Edition of approximately 100. Printed by Joseph Butera, Boston. Published by the Boston Chapter of the Museum of Modern Art (later Institute of Contemporary Art.) Pale time stain, scattered marginal handling creases. A good impression of this scarce print. We have not found a record of another impression at auction in the past 20 years.

According to Prescott, the Boston Chapter of the Museum of Modern Art was opened as a recreational center for U.S service men and women during the war. Levine donated this print for fund-raising purposes. Prescott 1.
