"We are without any advice from you since you left. As you had promised to write from Wheeling we are at a loss to account for not hearing from you. Sarah in the enclosed has advised you of the improved health of the children. I have been quite sick, have not sent you any papers today. Major Donelson will leave on Sunday next for . . . our sweet little ones for Philadelphia on Monday, after which, I will be as lonely as you will find yourself at home. I shall write fully as soon as I am able. May god bless you with health, and my dear son, keep free from dis[si]pation."
