Autograph Letter Signed, twice (in full and "A.J."), as President, to his Treasury Auditor Amos Kendall, conveying the request of [Treasury Secretary Louis] McLane to arrange for publication in the [Washington] Globe of Jackson's reply to the NY Legislature's address, and, in two postscripts, the second signed with initials: "Send the paper back when done with it"; "I will be happy to see you tomorrow after 12 for a few minutes." Marked "Private" in holograph, at upper edge. 1 page, 4to; some chipping along side edges with loss to few letters of text, few short closed tears at folds, docketing verso. Np, 5 March 1832

"Our mutual friend Mr. McLane spoke to me today to have you [make] out a copy of my reply to the address of the members of the Legislature of New York--whilst copying it, the enclosed paper came to hand.
