Fersen was a French poet and novelist. The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage declared the home he built in Capri, Villa Lysis, a historical monument in 1989. This work is dedicated to Fersen's long-time partner, Nino Cesarini (1889-1943), who posed for Hocker, Brunelleschi, and Jerace in his youth.
