JACQUES VILLON
La Parisienne, tournée a droite.

Etching and aquatint printed in brown on smooth cream wove paper, 1902. 470x344 mm; 181/2x135/8 inches, full margins. The first state (of 5) or an undescribed intermediate state between the first and second states (of 5), before the reduction of the plate and before the addition of the signature in the plate. Signed in pencil, lower right. A superb impression of this extremely scarce proof.

Ginestet/Pouillon note only one other first state proof (measuring 477x372 mm), now in the Cleveland Museum of Art. The current work is likely a unique proof between Ginestet/Pouillon's first and second states. Ginestet/Pouillon 74.
