JAMES A. M. WHISTLER (after)
Arrangement in Brown and Black: Portrait of Miss Rosa Corder.

Mezzotint on Chine-collé, 1879. 400x192 mm; 15 3/4x7 1/2 inches, full margins. A deluxe artist's proof, signed by Whistler, from the total edition of approximately 300. Signed, titled, inscribed "Trial Proof. 1st Proof with corrections" and with the artist's large shaded butterfly device in pencil, lower margin. Printed by Richard Josey, London. Published by Henry Graves & Co., London. A superb, richly-inked impression of this very scarce print, with all the tonal nuances distinct.

The current work is based on Whistler's same-titled oil painting, 1876-78, now in the Frick Collection, New York.
