JAMES A. M. WHISTLER
Chelsea Bridge and Church.

Etching and drypoint printed in black on antique, cream laid paper, circa 1871. 102x170 mm; 4x6 3/4 inches, wide margins. MacDonald's seventh state (of 7), an early impression in this state, with abundant burr on the sailing barge at right and the forground boat. A very good impression of this scarce etching with strong contrasts.

With—Battersea Dawn (Cadogan Pier), etching and drypoint on thin, cream laid Japan paper, 1863. 114x151 mm; 4 1/2x6 inches, full margins. MacDonald's second state (of 2). A superb impression with plate tone and all the lines distinct, with strong contrasts and crisp, inky plate edges. Kennedy 75 and 95; Glasgow 95 and 102.
