Drypoint printed in black on cream wove Japan paper, 1874. 212x136 mm; 8 3/8x5 3/8 inches, full margins. MacDonald's eleventh state "a" (of 11b), after cancellation but with the cancellation lines nearly imperceptible. A very good, dark impression of this extremely scarce print, with burr on the contours of the right leg and on the artist's butterfly signature.
MacDonald notes approximately 20 impressions prior to cancellation and another 20 impressions printed after cancellation, invariably with unobtrusive cancellation lines, for the Fine Art Society, London, around 1879. Kennedy 110; Glasgow 136.
