The Bridge.

Etching and drypoint printed in dark brownish-black on antique cream laid paper, 1879-80. 296x202 mm; 11 3/4x8 inches. Sixth state (of 8). Signed with the butterfly and inscribed "imp." in pencil on the tab, lower left. Arms of Amsterdam watermark. Ex-collection Howard Mansfield, pencil initials verso (see Lugt 1342). From Twenty-Six Etchings. A brilliant, early impression of this very scarce etching, with drypoint and well-inked burr on the lower supports of the bridge, on the open fireplace in the left background, on the empty boat at left and in the lines in the water.
