JEAN-BAPTISTE-CAMILLE COROT
Une Famille à Terracine.

Lithograph printed in reddish brown on Chine appliqué, 1871. 266x405 mm; 10½x16 inches, full margins. Edition of approximately 50. Published by Alfred Robaut, Paris. A very good impression of this extremely scarce lithograph.

Corot (1795-1875), the celebrated Barbizon school painter whose plein-air innovations anticipated Impressionism, made only 15 different lithographs, all toward the end of his career. Having fled war-torn Paris in 1870, during the Franco-Prussian war, he took refuge in the country home of the lithographer Alfred Robaut in Douai at the far northeast corner of France, where he created this and his other lithographs.

We have found only 6 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years. Delteil 29; Melot 29.
