JEAN CARLU (1900-1997) AMERICA'S ANSWER! / PRODUCTION. 1942.
29 3/4x39 3/4 inches, 75 1/2x101 cm. U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, D.C.
Condition A- / B+: slight discoloration, creases and minor tears along sharp vertical and horizontal folds. Paper.
Designed and issued six months before the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941, the U.S. Government later reissued this poster on a larger scale the following year, when the war machine was heavily reliant on the mighty output from American factories. Here, power, technology and strength are combined in a modern, almost mechanical style. This is certainly one of the most spectacular American posters produced during World War II. Aside from the date, the only difference between the two printings is that the latter was always folded for distribution.
