JEAN CARLU (1900-1997) PSCHITT! 1950.
46 1/4x62 inches. De Plas, Paris.
Condition B+: restoration along vertical and horizontal folds.
This second poster for Perrier uses the sharp, vivid colors that were common in decorating and advertising after the war. It also uses the humorous approach that became the successful trademark of Raymond Savignac. Clearly, from Carlu's artistic point of view, the days of geometric Art Deco designs were over. Carlu explained that this image, as opposed to the sophisticated approach of the big ear (see previous lot), was "brutal advertising." It is indeed a strong invitation to drink Perrier, as the poster was hard to miss. Carlu 77.
