JEAN CARLU AMERICA'S ANSWER! / PRODUCTION. 1941.
30x39 1/2 inches. (76 x 100 cm.) U.S. Government Printing Office.
Condition B+: tears, losses and creases in margins and image. Paper.
Designed and issued in 1941, six months before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Government re-issued this poster on a larger scale a year later when the war machine was heavily reliant on the mighty output from American factories. Here, power, technology and strength are combined in a modern, almost mechanical style. This is certainly one of the most spectacular American posters produced during World War II. Aside from the date, the only difference between the 1941 printing and the 1942 printing appears to be that the latter was always folded for distribution. Carlu 49, Word & Image p. 93, Modern American 45, Modern Poster 197.
