Don arrived in Paris from Bucharest during World War I. Through a fortuitous connection with François André, he soon became acquainted with "tout Paris." André, who owned casinos in Deauville, Cannes, and La Baule, singled Don out as his favorite designer and decorator. He had him create posters and decorate balls and gala events for his rich clients. The Bal des Petits Lits Blancs was one of Paris' major charity balls held each year to benefit children's hospitals. Year after year, the event was heralded by posters designed by the most fashionable illustrators in Paris, including Domergue, Barbier and Lepape. Rare. Reclame 69.
