JEAN-FRANÇOIS MILLET
Étude de Figure.

Conté crayon on cream wove paper. 313x205 mm; 12 3/8x8 1/8 inches.

Ex-collection the artist's estate, with the brown ink stamp (Lugt 1460a, lower right recto); private collection, Vermont.

This drawing of a standing male figure, with his arms folded in front, head bowed, is similar to the peasant man in Millet's (1814-1875, see lot 11 ) iconic oil painting L'Angélus, 1857-59, now at the Musée d'Orsay, Paris.
