Deluxe limited first edition, large quarto, letter H of 9 lettered copies on vélin de Lana, signed by the author in blue ink, illustrated with 29 original lithographs by Jean Cocteau including an original drawing and an additional suite of illustrations on Chine fort from a total run of 525 copies; this enhanced copy also includes a second original drawing by Cocteau as well as a 1pp. ALS and black-and-white press photo of Genet mounted to a preliminary blank; original pale green printed wrappers preserved; bound in sumptuous full navy morocco by Devauchelle decorated with a dynamic mosaic onlay featuring three male figures in green, pink and blue, and an anchor in shades of yellow and gilt on each panel, gilt stamped spine, pink and blue endpapers, all edges gilt; contained in the original custom morocco backed marbled chemise and slipcase (block barely trimmed for binding; chemise lightly rubbed, front hinge split); 12 x 9 in.

Tipped-in; Autograph letter signed, 1 pp, regarding a request for a copy of Querelle for delivery. [AND:] A black-and-white press photograph of Genet reclining in a bed reading a newspaper; with "Daniel Filipacci Photos" credit stamp to rear as well as a penciled note stating the subject is Genet.
