Goude, who worked in New York as art director for Esquire during the 1970s, was also responsible for conceiving and designing the extraordinary parade down the Champs-Elysées in Paris to commemorate the bicentennial of the French Revolution. He is one of the leading art directors within the French advertising world, but still may be most universally known for his images of Grace Jones. He began working with the Galeries Lafayette in 2001 and, working with the model Laetitia Costa, completely modernized the public's view of the department store through a series of innovative, daring and sometimes outlandish posters. Encyclopedie de l'Affiche p. 203 (var).
