JEAN RAOUL NAURAC (DATES UNKNOWN) LONDRES VICHY PULLMAN. 1927.
42x30 inches. Lucien Serre, Paris.
Condition B+: restoration and overpainting in margins; expert overpainting in top margin, around text.
On May 14, 1927, a new service was initiated for travelers to take a direct, luxurious journey from London to the French spa of Vichy. Printed in April, 1927, this poster was most likely promoting the inaugural trip, and would have very much appealed to the first class sensibilities of those who would be making the trip, depicting affluent grace and style in an Art Deco manner. "The full splendor of luxury travel in the 1930s comes out in this joint Nord Wagons Lits-PLM design. The symmetrical perspective and picking out and highlighting of details of the interior fittings set up a virtual three-dimensional effect" (Golden Age p. 123). Hillion p. 108, le Train 243, Golden Age 143.
