Additional Details

In 1981 Jim Dine was visiting Los Angeles and in November of that year he was commissioned by a patron to complete a large series of bas-reliefs for Bernard's Restaurant in the Biltmore Hotel. This project would occupy the artist for ten weeks with the majority of the work created at Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design. In the present set of watercolors, Dine drew on his personal iconography which had occupied him since the early 1960s.
