The first printing of this image was copyrighted in black and white in 1931. Two subsequent versions were printed in 1941 & 1949, with very small changes to distinguish between the two. In this 1941 printing, the small horseback rider in the upper left border (in a yellow square), faces right. The same square in the 1949 printing features a cowgirl on a horse, facing left! Another difference is the very hilly road in the bottom left of the 1941 printing with a sign to "Big Oak Flat," replaced by a straight, up-hill road in 1949.
