JOHN HEARTFIELD (1891-1968) MORD AN UNSERN BRÜDERN IM OSTEN! 1927.
25 1/4x19 inches, 64x49 cm. Peuvag, Berlin.
Condition B: losses in margins; pin-holes in corners and image; horizontal folds. Paper.
Heartfield was a pioneer in the use of photomontage. His aggressive anti-Nazi and anti-fascist imagery appeared in both magazines (primarily AIZ) and posters. This extremely rare poster addresses a political situation outside of Europe, the massacre of Communist soldiers by Chiang Kai-Shek and the Kuomintang in the fight for China's political control. "Murder of our brothers in the East / Storm in Europe against the executioners in China." Heartfield pl. 111.
