Littlejohns was a painter, illustrator, writer of art books and teacher. The handful of travel posters he created exhibit the same skillful use of color and light that feature in his oil paint and pastel landscapes. His posters for Whitley Bay and Felixstowe (See Swann sale 2360 Lots 129 & 130) are also colored with the dusk moodiness and romanticism that permeates this image of the heather-covered Moors of Yorkshire.
