In the 1920s and 30s Mansbridge designed a number of posters for the London Underground. He was an official war artist during the Second World War, was Head of Fine Art at Goldsmith's College and portraits of his hang in Britain's National Portrait Gallery. This harvest scene is from a 1935 series of four posters dedicated to the cardinal points (North, South, East and West).
