Cathedral.

This block, one of a series of monumental woodcuts of New Orleans, was carved by the artist with a modified miniature chainsaw into a single sheet of plywood. Born in New Orleans and raised in the lower Ninth Ward, John T. Scott produced artwork shaped largely by the diverse and local African, African-American, Caribbean and Creole cultures. In 1992, he was awarded a prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship.
